According to an official, a four-year-old child who was injured in the collision was transferred to a hospital in Mangaon.

Digital Desk: At least nine people were killed and a child was injured after a speeding truck collided with their van on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Maharashtra's Raigad district on Thursday morning, reports said.

The incident reportedly took place at around 4.45 am at the Repoli village in Raigad which is around 130 km from Mumbai. Somnath Gharge, superintendent of police, said that the victims, who were all relatives, were travelling in the van to Guhagar in the Ratnagiri district.

He claimed the truck was headed toward Mumbai.

"The death number reached nine. There were six people killed: five men, three women, and a young girl "said the official.

He claimed that following a call for help, police arrived quickly and launched a rescue operation.

According to the official, a four-year-old child who was injured in the collision was transferred to a hospital in Mangaon. According to him, the bodies were taken to a government hospital for a post-mortem.

According to the authorities, the accident's cause has not yet been determined.
