Guwahati: NLFB chief and extremist M Batha, the insurgent who had recently returned to the jungles after the Bodoland Council Elections, has finally surrendered himself to Assam Police.

Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta told PTI that the entire organisation will surrender. He, however, declined to share how many militants of the extremist group will lay down their arms.

M Batha, along with several other cadres, surrendered following the third Bodo Peace Accord signed in January 2020, but subsequently returned to the forest to form the NLFB.

Batha was previously a member of the Bodoland National Democratic Front (NDFB).
