Dibrugarh: The Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) doctor’s on Wednesday managed to remove an ovarian tumour weighing 30 kg from a 16-year-old girl of Panitola, Golaghat district.
The surgery was performed by a team of doctors led by Dr R. Sonowal and his team Dr Pranati Dutta and Dr Aishwarya Lekshmi. The Anesthesia team was led by Dr Karuna K Das.
Taking to Twitter AMCH wrote, “We are happy to share that today our emergency Gynecology and Anaesthesia team successfully removed an ovarian mass of around 30 KG from a 16-year-old girl after a very challenging surgery.”
In another tweet, AMCH wrote, “The girl was in very critical conditions due to intubation difficulty at the first attempt but our senior VA Dr Karuna Das successfully resuscitated & intubated her after a technically challenging menovure. The patient's vitals were stable after extubation and she was fine.”
Further, AMCH added in its post, “The picture shows only the solid part of the mass. It was densely adherent and had a large fluid mass creating the girl's daily livelihood a very difficult one and she had to undergo a life-saving emergency operation.”
