Guwahati: As per sources, the National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) extremist M Batha, the insurgent leader who recently returned to the jungles after the Bodo Council elections, and his cadres are likely to surrender before the Assam Police today. it is speculated that the extremist along with his cadres will surrender at Laopani Outpost, Mazbat under Udalguri district.

M Batha and his associates are currently in Arunachal Pradesh, where the Special Branch and the Kokrajhar Police have rushed to take them up.

M Batha, along with several other cadres, surrendered following the third Bodo Peace Accord signed in January 2020, but subsequently returned to the forest to form the NLFB.

Batha was previously a member of the Bodoland National Democratic Front (NDFB).
