Guwahati: Selling or storage of zarda, pan masala, gutkha , sikhar etc has been completely banned in Kamrup district. DC Kamrup Kailash Karthik N, has issued an order under section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting the storage, distribution and selling of the above mentioned items within the district with an immediate effect.
The order shall remain in force until further orders.
The order has been implemented in an effort to implement the Assam Health (Prohibition of Manufacturing, Advertising, Trade Storage, Distribution, Sale and Consumption of Zarda, Gutkha, Pannamasala etc. containing Tobacco and or Nicotine Act, 2013.
