Despite ongoing debates among UN member states regarding the nature of the convention, Doval stressed the need for consensus to address cyber threats comprehensively

Digital Desk: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval reaffirmed India's commitment to combating terrorism and cybercrime during a security conference in Russia. Emphasising collaboration with global partners, Doval underscored India's stance on leveraging digital technology for inclusive economic growth while addressing the misuse of information and communication technologies by criminals and terrorists.

At the 'XII International Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters' in St Petersburg, Doval advocated for international cooperation to ensure information security in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. He highlighted India's support for a proposed UN convention on cybercrime as a crucial step toward global cybersecurity.

Despite ongoing debates among UN member states regarding the nature of the convention, Doval stressed the need for consensus to address cyber threats comprehensively. He proposed a roadmap for cooperation involving governments, private sectors, academia, and civil society, aiming at capacity building, awareness programs, and security development standards for emerging technologies.

During bilateral discussions, Doval addressed regional security concerns, including the situation in Myanmar and developments along the India-Myanmar border. With Myanmar's junta facing mounting resistance, discussions revolved around security, refugee issues, and infrastructure projects.

In meetings with counterparts such as Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Doval reviewed bilateral cooperation and discussed mutual interests. At a luncheon with NSAs from BRICS nations, hosted by Patrushev, Doval advocated for concerted efforts to combat terrorism and prevent cross-border terrorist activities.

Doval's engagements underline India's proactive approach to international security cooperation and its commitment to addressing contemporary security challenges in collaboration with global partners.
