Digital Desk: In a gesture aimed at enhancing the spectator experience, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared that mineral and packaged drinking water will be provided free of charge to cricket fans attending the ODI World Cup matches, which kick off on Thursday.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah made the announcement through his official X account, expressing the cricketing body's commitment to the well-being of fans. 

"Exciting times ahead as we anticipate the first ball of @ICC @cricketworldcup 2023! I am proud to announce that we're providing FREE mineral and packaged drinking water for spectators at stadiums across India. Stay hydrated and enjoy the games! Let's create unforgettable memories during CWC 2023!" he wrote.


The inaugural match of the tournament is being played between England and New Zealand at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which started today at 2 PM IST.

Meanwhile, India, led by captain Rohit Sharma, is scheduled to commence their ODI World Cup campaign on Sunday against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The decision to offer complimentary drinking water to fans reflects BCCI's commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for spectators attending the ODI World Cup matches, as cricket fever continues to grip the nation.
