Just three days after the Coromandel Express crash in Odisha, another train derailed near the Bargarh district...

Digital Desk: Just a few days after the Odisha train accident in Balasore, which has so far claimed the lives of over 280 people, another train accident has been reported near the state's Barghar district, where five compartments of a goods train have been derailed.

Following the derailment of another train in Odisha, Indian Railways has stated that this train is not linked to the government and belongs to a private company. There have been no reports of casualties in the Bargarh train disaster as of yet.

As per initial reports, five waggons of a private company's limestone-carrying cargo train derailed near Mendhapali in Bargarh. The accident happened in the early hours of Monday morning on the private railway line linking Dungri Limestone Mines and the ACC Bargarh cement plant.

"This is entirely a narrow-gauge siding of a private cement company. The company is entirely liable for all infrastructure, including rolling stock, engines, waggons, and narrow gauge train routes. Railways have no role in this matter," East Coast Railway said in a press release.

"There is a private narrow-gauge rail line connecting Dungri Limestone Mines and the ACC Bargarh cement plant. The track, waggons, and locomotive are all privately owned. It is not related in any manner to the Indian Railways system," the statement added.

This comes after three trains collided and derailed near Odisha's Balasore district, killing around 280 people. Reportedly, over 400 people are currently hospitalised and undergoing treatment in nearby hospitals.

As per the official government release, the reason for the Odisha train accident was a fault in the electric interlocking and signalling points. Moreover, the opposition pointed out that the train did not have a Kavach system, which was designed to prevent rail accidents.
