Digital Desk: Assam police vigilance and anti corruption department on Wednesday detained one Hari Das Singha, Lat Mandal of office of the circle officer, Patharighat revenue circle, Darrang while collecting bribe.

At this section, a complaint was received alleging that Das had requested Rs. 20,000 in exchange for changing the name on a parcel of land measuring half a bigha. The bribe money was later cut to Rs. 18,000, and then to Rs. 17,000.

In order to take the necessary legal action against the aforementioned public employee, the complainant approached the Assam Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

As a result, a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Assam set up a trap, and Das Singha was caught in the act in the office shortly after taking a bribe from the complaint for Rs. 10,000 out of the total amount asked.

He had the contaminated bribe money retrieved from him. According to Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as modified in 2018), a case was filed in the ACB PS on September 7, 2022 against Shri Hari Das Singha, Lat Mandal of the Office of the Circle Officer, Patharighat Revenue Circle, Darrang.
