Digital Desk: Darrang Deputy Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey said on Friday that those who have been evicted from their homes will be granted land in Morigaon and will be offered job opportunities.

The DC spoke about the eviction drive that will take place in Orang National Park, which is located on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River in the Assam districts of Darrang and Sonitpur.

DC Ngatey said, "It has been noticed that many of the people who currently live near the Orang National Park already own lands. They had migrated to the park's surroundings to engage in agricultural activities. The eviction drive is set to take place from May 29 to May 31. However, some people who have been evicted in the last three to four days have taken matters into their own hands by returning to their respective communities willingly. The administration is assisting them with this process by providing transportation in the form of boats."

Dalgaon MLA Mazibur Rahman praised the Assam government's efforts, saying that people did not have to be evicted this time. Through the efforts of the All Assam Minority Students' Union (AAMSU) and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), they are leaving by their own wish.

He praised their efforts to promote voluntary evictions from affected areas. Further, Rahman thanked the chief minister for providing job opportunities to people before the eviction drive started.
