Digital Desk: Barpeta MP Abdul Khaleque said on Monday that he is proud of the Mughals for giving India (Bharat) a shape and naming it 'Hindustan.'

He also claimed that India's independence struggle would have been incomplete without the Mughals.

This comes after CM Sarma criticized Delhi CM Kejriwal in a news agency interview for purportedly claiming that Delhi has been India's capital since the Mughal era.

Speaking to the reporters, Khaleque said, "Our chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has an allergy with the Mughals, but he also claimed during a Twitter battle with CM Kejriwal that Delhi was the capital of India since the Mughal era. It's the truth, even though he hesitates to say it out loud. We cannot disregard the Mughals' contributions because they constructed iconic places in India like the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal. "

The MP further noted that every Indian prime minister has hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort on Independence Day. " "If we dislike Mughals so much, hoisting the national flag at Red Fort is not the right thing to do," Khaleque stated.
