Digital Desk: More than 50  people are currently under the scanner of the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell in connection with an alleged land mutation scam involving suspended ACS officer Nupur Bora.

According to sources, several people who had their land mutated through Bora are now facing serious trouble after it emerged that the mutated land parcels are actually registered in the names of other people . Investigators allege that Bora carried out the land mutations in exchange for money.

Many residents from Barpeta district reportedly got their land ownership through Bora. However, during questioning by the vigilance authorities, several of them have failed to produce valid documents to support the mutations carried out in their names.

Sources further claim that even Satra land was allegedly mutated using forged documents through Bora. More than 50 people are now being called daily by the vigilance department to present all relevant documents related to the land mutations.

Officials also stated that a large number of those involved had trusted the network allegedly created by Bora. At present, Nupur Bora remains lodged at the Guwahati Central Jail.

The Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell is expected to file a chargesheet against Bora in court soon as the investigation continues.
