Dubai: Pakistani skipper Babar Azam in its record-breaking series, scripted another two records during the second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup against Australia at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday.

Babar completed its mission of 2500 runs in T20I cricket and became the fastest player, achieving the feat in 62 innings beating team India captain Virat Kohli, who holds the record for scoring 2,500 T20I runs in 68 innings.

Moreover, in its second feat, Babar scored the most runs by any player in their maiden T20 World Cup.

Babar topped the tally with 269 runs, followed by Australia’s Matthew Hayden and England’s Joe Root with 265 and 249 runs, respectively.

Last week, the Pakistani skipper broke the record of former Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene’s most runs by a captain in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. In 2012, Jayawardene scored 201 runs as captain of Sri Lanka, while Babar has scored 264 runs in the tournament.
