The sessions court granted his appeal to dismiss the case, but it also fined the retired IPS officer Rs. 1,500, to be paid to Goswami.

Digital Desk: Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh on Wednesday dismissed a defamation lawsuit he had brought against Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and the company that operates the station, ARG Outlier Media Private Limited.

The sessions court granted his appeal to dismiss the case, but it also fined the retired IPS officer Rs. 1,500, to be paid to Goswami.

Singh filed the lawsuit in 2021, asking for Rs 90 lakh in damages, alleging that Republic TV had made false assertions about him in 2020 while covering the purported bogus Television Rating Points scandal that the Mumbai Police were looking into.
