Sania Mirza of India and Mate Pavic of Croatia advanced to the Wimbledon semi-finals of the mixed doubles event.
Digital Desk: Sania Mirza of India and Mate Pavic of Croatia advanced to the Wimbledon semi-finals of the mixed doubles event after defeating the fourth-seeded pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and John Peers.
The sixth-seeded Indo-Croatian won by 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 score in a close match on Court 3.
Sania, competing in her final Wimbledon, reached the mixed doubles semi-finals for the first time in her career. Sania's incredible forehand was again displayed, her powerful shots causing havoc for her opponents.
Sania and Pavic will now face the winner of the other quarterfinal match between second seeds Desirae Krawczyk-Neal Skupski and seventh-seeded Jelena Ostapenko-Robert Farah.
Sania also competed in the women's doubles draw. Still, she and her Czech partner Lucie Hradecka were knocked out in the first round by Magdalena Frech and Beatriz Haddad Maia, losing 6-4, 4-6, 2-6.
Earlier, Sania and Pavic, the sixth-seeded pair, advanced to the mixed doubles quarterfinals after their second-round opponents Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan gave a walkover.
In the first round, Sania and Pavic defeated Spain's David Vega Hernandez and Georgia's Natela Dzalamidze by 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 points.
Sania has already announced that she will retire at the end of the season.
