The Sivagiri Pilgrimage and Brahma Vidhyalaya were established Under the direction of great social reformer Narayana Guru.

Digital Desk: PM Narendra Modi attended the inaugural ceremony on Tuesday for yearlong joint celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the Sivagiri Pilgrimage and Golden Jubilee of Brahma Vidhyalaya.

Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan and Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics and Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar are some other dignitaries present at the event.

The event is said to be placed at the official residence of the Prime Minister of India, and he will also launch the logo at the event.

Every year, from December 30 to January 1, Sivagiri, Thiruvananthapuram, hosts the Sivagiri Pilgrimage for three days.

According to Narayana Guru, the purpose of pilgrimage should be to spread comprehensive knowledge among the people and to aid in their overall development and prosperity. As a result, the pilgrimage focuses on eight topics: education, cleanliness, holiness, handicrafts, trade and commerce, agriculture, science and technology, and organised effort.

The pilgrimage began with a small group of devotees in 1933 and has since grown to become one of the most important events in South India. Every year, lakhs of devotees from all over the world come to Sivagiri to participate in the pilgrimage, regardless of caste, creed, religion, or language.

Narayan Guru also envisioned where all religions' principles could be taught with serenity and equal respect. The Sivagiri Brahma Vidhyalaya was established to realise this vision.

According to ANI reports, Brahma Vidhyalaya offers a seven-year course in Indian philosophy that includes the works of Narayan Guru and scriptures from all major religions around the world.
