Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated nine medical colleges in Siddarthanagar, Uttar Pradesh. The inauguration of these medical colleges took place just ahead of the polls.

Following this, prime minister Modi will launch "Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana" in Varanasi. He will additionally inaugurate several construction schemes worth more than Rs 5,200 crore for his Lok Sabha constituency.

PM Modi Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMASBY) will be one of the largest pan-India schemes. This scheme is for strengthening the healthcare foundation and will be in addition to the National Health Mission.

Only 12 government medical colleges were constructed from 1947-2016. However, presently 30 medical colleges are soon be to inaugurated under prime minister Modi's leadership.

Among these 30 medical colleges, MBBS classes have already started for seven colleges. Today prime minister Modi inaugurated nine more medical colleges. Fourteen more colleges are under planning for the future, said Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
