Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual conference with officials of districts where the COVID-19 vaccination coverage is low on November 3. India administered its billionth Covid vaccine dose the previous week.

The notification stated that the conference would cover districts with less than 50% of the first dose coverage. It would also include districts with low coverage of the second dose of the Covid vaccine.

"Prime Minister will communicate with District Magistrates of over 40 districts in Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and other States with districts having low vaccination coverage. Chief Ministers of these States will also be present on the occasion," it stated.

According to government figures, nearly three-quarters of grown-ups of 1.3 billion people have had one shot. And 30% are completely vaccinated.

At the G20 summit meeting in Rome on Saturday, the Prime Minister emphasized that India has offered one billion doses. Also, India is set to produce over 5 billion Covid vaccine doses by the end of next year to support the world's fight against the pandemic.

China, the single nation to beat out more vaccine doses than India. As of late September, it has completely injected some 1.05 billion, or 75% of its citizens.

India intends to completely vaccinate its grown-up population by the end of this year.
