Speaking to party workers at the Satyagraha, Sahay described the BJP government as "looters."

Digital Desk: A senior Congress leader and former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay stated on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is acting like Adolf Hitler and will "die like Hitler" if he follows the path of the German dictator.

However, the Congress, defending itself from the comment made during the party's 'Satyagraha' demonstration against the Centre's Agneepath scheme at Jantar Mantar, said that it does not support any vulgar words aimed at the Prime Minister.

Speaking to party workers at the Satyagraha, Sahay described the BJP government as "looters."

"This is a looting government. Modi is behaving like a ringmaster and has taken on the role of a dictator," he stated.

"I believe he has even topped Hitler. From within the German army, Hitler also formed the 'Khaki' organisation. Remember, if Modi continues Hitler's path, he will die like Hitler," he warned.

Jairam Ramesh, the Congress' general secretary, communications, stated in a Hindi tweet that the party would continue to battle the Modi government's authoritarian mindset and anti-people policies.

"However, it does not support any inappropriate statements directed against the prime minister. Party's effort will be continued by following Gandhian values," he said.

The Agneepath scheme, launched on June 14, calls for recruiting young people aged 17 and a half to 21 years into the military forces for only four years, with the option of keeping 25% of them for another 15 years. In 2022, the government raised the upper age limit for recruitment to 23 years.

According to Congress, the idea is "anti-youth" and will "destroy" the army.

The party is also protesting what it calls the government's "grudge politics" against Rahul Gandhi, who the Enforcement Directorate is questioning in connection with the National Herald money laundering case.
