Digital Desk: In a historic development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the renovation of 508 railway stations located all around the country via video conferencing on August 6 at 11 a.m.

The Prime Minister often stresses the need for modern public transportation. He has emphasized the significance of offering top-notch services at railway stations, noting that trains are the country's most popular means of transportation. This concept served as the inspiration for the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which was established to renovate 1309 stations nationwide.

The Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone for the redevelopment of 508 stations as part of this plan. These stations will be redeveloped at a cost of more than Rs 24,470 crore. For the development of these stations as "City Centers," with full integration of both sides of the city, master plans are now being prepared. The holistic vision of the city's total urban development, centered around the train station, serves as the driving force behind this integrated strategy.

These 508 stations are spread among 27 states and union territories, with 55 stations each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21 in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18 in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 15 in Haryana, and 13 in Karnataka.

Along with assuring well-designed traffic circulation, intermodal integration, and well-designed signs for passenger support, the reconstruction will provide modern passenger amenities. The design of the station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage, and architecture.
