Digital Desk: Rising rape cases have been a major concern in the state recently, as the increase of such cases has been a major issue. In light of this, a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Assam sentenced a man to seven years in prison for raping a three-year-old child.


Rafiq Ali, according to intel, is identified as the accused. Notably, the awful incident occurred in Guwahati's Fatasil Ambari area in 2022.


Furthermore, Rafiq Ali was additionally fined Rs 9,000 in addition to being imprisoned. It was also mentioned that If the accused is unable to pay the money, the court has ordered that he be imprisoned for an extra three months.


According to sources, the court has also asked the District Legal Services Authorities to compensate the victim with Rs 1 lakh.
