New Delhi: On the occasion of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, President Ram Nath Kovind paid floral tribute to the leader at the ‘Atal Samadhi Sthal’ in the national capital on Monday.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid floral tribute to the former Prime Minister at the Samadhi Sthal.

The other dignitaries present to pay homage at his memorial includes Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other union ministers, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders (BJP) and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as Prime Minister of India three times- briefly in 1996 and then for two terms between 1998 and 2004. One of the prominent leaders of the Nation, Vajpayee, died on August 16, 2018, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) due to prolonged illness at the age of 93.

Vajpayee Birthday, which falls on December 25, is celebrated as ‘Good Governance Day all over the nation.

Moreover, he was awarded Bharat Ratna in 2014.
