Digital Desk: Assam Model United Nations 2025 concludes successfully at Gauhati University, which was held from December 28th - 29th 2025, marking a milestone in youth empowerment, the Assam Model United Nations (AMUN) 2025 concluded its high octane diplomatic sessions at Gauhati University.


The initiative was led by Shri Leon Mahanta, President of the Social Welfare Network and Director General of AMUN, along with Shri Somanshu Gogoi, Secretary of the Social Welfare Network and President of AMUN. The two day summit, organized by the Social Welfare Network (SWEN), served as a massive youth empowerment project, bringing together over 300 delegates from premier educational institutions across Assam to deliberate on global and national issues.


The event saw a unique collaboration of influential organizations. Gauhati University served as the Venue Partner, providing seamless support. The organizers specifically lauded the university's security and coordination staff for their professional and well behaved conduct, which ensured a safe and disciplined environment for the students. In a move to highlight social responsibility, UTSAH, a renowned child rights organization, supported the event, emphasizing the importance of young voices in advocacy. Prag News served as the Exclusive Media Partner, providing comprehensive coverage of the proceedings.


Diverse Committees and Intellectual Rigor

Moving beyond traditional debate, AMUN 2025 featured 7 distinct committees, offering a platform for diverse skill sets:-


International Press Corps: Featuring specialized tracks for Journalism, Photojournalism, and Caricature. Simulating international diplomacy and global policy-making.


Indian Committees: Focusing on domestic legislative processes and national challenges.


This entirely student-led initiative was made possible by a dedicated core team including Sashank Saha, Ankita Adwani, Adhyayan Mazumder, Abhigyan Mazumder, Ishmeet Singh, Debraj Karmakar, and Aman Pareek, whose tireless efforts in logistics and coordination were evident in the event's flawless execution.


The valedictory ceremony saw a celebration of talent and leadership. The top honors were awarded to:

Speaking on the success of the event, the organizers noted that AMUN 2025 has set a new benchmark for student-led diplomatic simulations in Northeast India, proving that the youth are ready to take on the mantle of leadership through dialogue and structured debate
