Digital Desk: A disturbing incident of sexual assault has been reported from Mazbat, Udalguri, where two young women fell victim to a heinous crime allegedly committed by three men.
The suspects reportedly deceived the women under the pretense of offering them a ride and subsequently assaulted them.
Udalguri police has apprehended the perpetrators, identified as Ajibar Rahman (19), Inamul Hoque (19), and Rafiqul Islam (35), who was the driver of the vehicle involved in the crime.
The assault occurred yesterday evening in Lalpani, Mazbat, where the perpetrators used a four-wheeler to lure the victims.
Following the arrests, a case has been registered at the Mazbat police station under case number 70/25, and a detailed investigation is underway.
The incident has sparked outrage and tension in the Mazbat area, with locals demanding strict punishment for the offenders.
KSDC Central Finance Secretary Naba Koch has called for life imprisonment for the accused and urged the government and authorities to take decisive action against the recurring issue of Muslim youths allegedly targeting Hindu women for sexual exploitation.
Koch further warned that continued incidents of this nature could lead to unrest in Assam.
The police are working swiftly on the investigation and the community is awaiting justice for the victims.
