Digital Desk: In a significant crackdown, a prostitution racket was busted by the local community on Monday in broad daylight at Panbari, near National Highway 17 in the Dhubri district. Five men and six women were detained and handed over to the police authorities during this massive operation.

This long-running prostitution ring operated in the Panbari area under the Gauripur police station at the residence of Jel Hoque and Sapior Rahman, also known as Sopi. The business was allegedly managed by Sapior's wife, Zainab Bibi. Despite multiple protests from villagers, the family persisted in their unlawful activities.

Based on confidential information, an angry mob gathered at the house on Monday where six or seven women and five men were present. The mob forcibly entered the house, detained the individuals involved, and vandalized and set fire to the residence.

When the Gauripur police arrived at the scene, the villagers demanded the immediate cessation of the sex racket and the punishment of Jel Hoque, Sapior Rahman, and Zainab Bibi. The police apprehended six women and five men involved in the prostitution operation and transported them to the police station. Meanwhile, firefighters arrived to control the situation and implement additional safety protocols.

Following the public detainment, local authorities intervened to manage the situation and handle those involved. This community-driven action underscores the local vigilance against illegal activities and often prompts law enforcement to take further steps to investigate and resolve such issues. This incident highlights the critical role of community involvement in combating crime and ensuring the safety and moral fabric of society.
