The winners of the Pulitzer Prizes for Journalism, Books, Drama, and Music for 2022 were revealed, with India receiving four wins for photographing COVID-19.

Digital Desk:  On Monday, the winners of the Pulitzer Prizes for Journalism, Books, Drama, and Music for 2022 were revealed, with India receiving four honors for documenting India's struggle with COVID-19.

In Feature Photography, Indian winners include Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, Amit Dave, and the late Danish Siddiqui. It's worth noting that photojournalist Siddiqui, who worked for the foreign news agency Reuters, was murdered last year while photographing confrontations between the Afghan army and the Taliban in Kandahar's Spin Boldak region.

A special citation for heroism, perseverance, and dedication to accurate reporting in the current Russia-Ukraine war was given to four Ukrainian journalists in 2022, besides four Indians.

Despite the constant bombing, abductions, occupation, and even fatalities in their ranks, the jury remarked that they have persevered in their efforts to portray the horrific truth accurately.

Furthermore, The Washington Post received the Public Service Award for its coverage of the Capitol protests, the US troop departure from Afghanistan, and the Surfside condominium collapse in Florida.
