Punjab and its neighbouring states' largest environmental problem, stubble burning, will receive a budgetary allocation of 200 crore, according to Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.

Digital Desk: Punjab's Bhagwant Mann administration on Monday unveiled its first budget since taking office in the state. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared a financial allocation of 11,560 crores for the agriculture sector during his budget speech.

The Punjab government has announced budgeted allocations for the growth of the agricultural sector, including free power to agriculture tubewells and budgetary expenditures for resolving the stubble burning issue.

Here are the top announcements for farmers in the Punjab budget 2022:

1. Punjab and its neighbouring states' largest environmental problem, stubble burning, will receive a budgetary allocation of 200 crore, according to Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.

2. The finance minister for Punjab also disclosed 66 crores for gap financing to buy green gramme.

3. The administration suggested allocating Rs. 6,947 crore from the state's budget to provide free electricity to agriculture tubewells.

4. The Punjab government has announced the allocation of Rs. 450 crore as incentives to paddy farmers who use the non-traditional technique of direct seeding rice in an effort to save ground water by at least 20%.
