Digital Desk: A seven-year-old kid was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old boy in his neighbourhood by setting him on fire.

According to reports, the victim received 60% burns and was being treated at MBS Hospital for a month. He died on Wednesday as a result of his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The victim reportedly said the incident took place on May 13 after a scuffle broke out between him and the seven-year-old accused while playing near their respective houses in Prem Nagar Colony under Udhyog Nagar police station, according to a statement made to the police before his death.

The accused youngster and his parents are residents of Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh, but have been living in a rented house in Kota's Prem Nagar Colony, according to a report by TOI. The accused's father makes a living as an autorickshaw driver.

Following the tragedy, the minor and his parents returned to their hometown in MP, where he is currently living with his parents.

The Udhyog Nagar police have filed an application with a local court seeking advice and permission to undertake a medical test to determine the age of the accused minor boy, as he is still a juvenile under his parents' care.

Notably, the police had filed a case against the 7-year-old for attempted murder while the victim was still alive, but when the victim was certified dead under Section 302,fresh murder charges were filed against the kid.
