The scholarship is available for deserving students planning to enroll in any accredited university in Assam or elsewhere.

Digital Desk: Ranjan Gogoi, a former Chief Justice of India (CJI), has decided to offer a scholarship program for deserving law students.

Deserving students planning to enroll in any accredited university in Assam or elsewhere to complete a five-year integrated bachelor's degree in law (BA-LLB) are eligible for this scholarship.

The scholarship programme will begin with the academic year's first semester. Additionally, students enrolled in the course may apply.

According to reports, the scholarship fund was established using Justice Gogoi's salary and benefits as a Rajya Sabha member after he took the oath in March 2020.

Notably, throughout his whole time in the upper house, Ranjan Gogoi did not accept any payments or allowances.

The scholarship will support students who want to pursue a profession in law and can be used to cover tuition costs and provide housing for the duration of the programme for the chosen candidates. Those who are currently enrolled in the course will continue to benefit from the scholarship for the remaining time.
