Ravindra Jadeja raised his international wicket total to 102 against Australia...

Digital Desk: Ravindra Jadeja for India's World Cup 2023 opener against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, October 8 showed a power performance by taking 3 wickets. After Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to field at Chepauk, Jadeja ran through the Australian middle order.

Ravindra Jadeja boosted his international wicket count to 102 against Australia.

Jadeja finished with 28 for 3 after bowling his quota of ten overs, two of which were maidens.

With the three wickets, Jadeja became only the third bowler after Harbhajan Singh in history to have more than 100 wickets in international cricket against Australia.

Ravindra Jadeja worked his magic, as he was as accurate with the ball as the rest of his teammates. Jadeja was frugal and took wickets in the middle overs, slowing Australia's momentum.

With a ripper in the 28th over, Jadeja broke a key partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, which had extended to 36. Steve Smith, 46, was undone in the middle by a traditional left-arm spinner's ball that pitched on the middle stump line and smacked the top of the off-stump. Smith had a puzzled expression on his face as he acknowledged Jadeja's genius.

Most Wicket taken list-

Stuart Broad has 128 wickets in 41 matches. 6 wickets in 5 overs

Harbhajan Singh has 105 wickets in 37 matches. 7 five-wicket hauls

Ravindra Jadeja has 102 wickets in 40 matches. five-wicket hauls

India's spinners were on the blaze as the 2011 champions sounded a warning to the other teams. While Jadeja was the standout bowler, Kuldeep Yadav and R Ashwin both contributed with three wickets each.

Kuldeep took the important wicket of Glenn Maxwell, while Jasprit Bumrah also contributed by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for 0.
