Digital DeskA video of a cop in Kerala bravely subduing a man who assaulted him with a big machete has surfaced on the internet.

The video was published on Twitter by Swati Lakra, a Telangana IPS officer, and it received thousands of views and over 6,000 likes almost immediately.

"How a real #hero looks like...," Kudos to this Kerala Sub Inspector of Police." Lakra captioned the video on Twitter.

According to sources, Arun Kumar, the Station House Officer in Charge of Nooranad police station in Kerala's Alappuzha district, is the cop in the viral video. When the attack happened, he was on an evening patrol with his driver.

Sugathan, a 48-year-old Nooranad resident, was identified as the assailant. Before being subdued, Sugathan managed to stab the police officer in the hand.

During their struggle, the two males were seen sliding to the ground on film. After the cop was able to subdue Sugathan, onlookers who had witnessed the attack came to his help.

According to Kerala Police, the incident took place near Para Junction at 6pm on Sunday.

Kumar suffered injuries on his hand in the attack which required seven stitches.
