Sudha Bharadwaj, a Human Rights attorney who met Rhea inside the Byculla jail, recently spoke about Rhea's interactions with the prisoners there.

Digital Desk: Following the death of her boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020, Rhea Chakraborty became a national target. She was imprisoned for approximately 28 days in Mumbai's Byculla jail in connection with the infamous drug case that sparked outrage in Bollywood.

As the country mourned Sushant's tragic death, the actress was harassed on social media and even labelled with insulting remarks by some. Even after she was released from jail, she was subjected to intense scrutiny. Sudha Bharadwaj, a Human Rights attorney who met Rhea inside the Byculla jail, recently spoke about Rhea's interactions with the prisoners there.

Sudha explained to Newslaundry, "The Sushant Singh Rajput debacle had been going on for what seemed like an eternity in the media. We used to say at the time that Rhea was being used as a scapegoat. We were extremely dissatisfied. So I was relieved that she was kept in the special cell rather than the main barrack. I believe she was kept there so she wouldn't see the TV because people kept it on. Hearing about your case all the time would have been too upsetting for her."

Sudha also revealed that on the day they first met Rhea, everyone was looking for her. But she'd never do anything with it. She had some money left in her account when she left, so she requested sweets for everyone in the barracks, and everyone came down to say goodbye. Everyone then asked Rhea to dance, and she agreed. She did a dance with the inmates.

In the case at hand, Rhea Chakraborty made headlines after her boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, died in June 2020. The actress was arrested for allegedly selling drugs to Sushant, sparking a slew of conspiracy theories. Rhea was released from prison on October 7, 2020.
