As Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who led the team in his absence due to injuries are not available for selection, Rohit Sharma has been made captain of the team.


Digital Desk: The team for the upcoming three-match Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan was revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, January 7.

After being absent from the T20I format for more than a year, star cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are back in the Indian team.

As Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who led the team in his absence due to injuries are not available for selection, Rohit Sharma has been made captain of the team.

Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson also returned to T20I side after missing the recent series. All-rounder Shivam Dube is also included in the squad.



Notable, the players who are absent from the team are Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer.

The squad for India's IDFCFIRSTBank T20I series against Afghanistan is as follows:

Rohit Sharma (C), Subhman Gill, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar


The three Twenty20 International matches versus Afghanistan are scheduled for January 11, 14, and 17 in Mohali, Indore, and Bengaluru, correspondingly.

The only international matches India will play before the June 2024 World Cup are the three Twenty20 International matches against Afghanistan.
