Agartala: The royal scion of Tripura Pradyot Kishore Debbarma was attacked by unidentified miscreants at the Mohanpur sub-divisional magistrate office in West Tripura district on Friday.

The incident took place 24 hours ahead of vote count in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
In spite of heavy deployment of police and security personnel, the SDM office was stoned and targeted by hooligans.

Pradyot, who resigned as president of the state Congress in 2019, launched his own political party, Tipraha Indigenous Peoples Regional Alliance (TIPRA), this year and fielded candidates in 23 of the 28 tribal council seats that went to polls, in collaboration with the Indigenous Peoples Party of Twipra (INPT), which flooded candidates in the remaining five.
