New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research, on Tuesday, issued fresh guidelines for RT-PCR tests. It has directed, "RT-PCR test must not be repeated in any individual who has tested positive once either by RAT or RT-PCR."
These new guidelines are issued by ICMR to reduce the stress of laboratories. With an increase in the number of cases, laboratories are facing server testing targets with limited resources and workers.

“The need for RT-PCR test in healthy individuals undertaking inter-state domestic travel may be completely removed to reduce the load on laboratories,” the ICMR said in a circular. “No testing is required for Covid-19-recovered individuals at the time of hospital discharge.”
IMCR has also suggested using RAT tests, which quickly detect cases. This can also help in the early treatment of positive cases.

Moreover, ICM is also working upon guidelines to remove mandatory negative RT-PCR test reports for health individuals within inter-state domestic travel. Also, every symptomatic individual with inter-state movements must follow Covis 19 guidelines.
