Digital Desk: Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede’s bar license has been cancelled by Thane collector Rajesh Narvekar, who claims that he obtained it when he was under the age of 18.
“We held a hearing in January and issued an order on February 2, 2022, cancelling Wankhede’s license because he was under the age of 18 at the time he obtained it.”
According to the order, the license has been revoked under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
The issue was first raised by NCP minister Nawab Malik in November, following which the Thane section of the state excise sent a show-cause notice to Wankhede over the Navi Mumbai bar’s license.
According to an initial investigation by the Excise department, Wankhede was only 17 years old on the day he was issued a license for a bar and restaurant on October 27, 1997.
The excise department addressed a letter to the Thane collector and Thane excise superintendent ordering to take action based on the investigation.
Since the drugs-on-cruise case, in which NCB arrested, many people, including Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, Nawab Malik, have been relentless in his attacks on Sameer Wankhede.
Notably, Wankhede had previously detained Malik’s son-in-law in a separate narcotics case.
