Orders to reschedule the exam from its initial date were denied by the court. The exam is anticipated to be taken by close to 28,000 students, the court stated.

Digital Desk: The Supreme Court said on March 15 that the Union Government had extended the time for NEET MDS internships, which was done on Friday, March 15, 2024. Having noted the Union's statement, the Court denied the NEET MDS applicants' motion to reschedule the exam, which was originally set for March 18, 2024, and to extend the eligibility deadline after the change of the internship completion dates.

Orders to reschedule the exam from its initial date were denied by the court. The exam is anticipated to be taken by close to 28,000 students, the court stated.

The NEET-MDS candidates' complaints over the extension of the internship deadline were brought to the attention of the Supreme Court by the Union on February 21. The Court granted the students permission to present their case to the authorities on February 21, dismissing their petition in light of the Union's position.

The students filed their own application to revive the petition last week, claiming the Union has not yet made a decision. The Union decided to extend the internship deadline while discussing that application, and Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, were informed of this decision by the bench.

In addition, the exam is set for Monday, March 19, the bench was notified today. The Union also announced that the move to extend the deadline resulted in 568 students registering and that the exam registration page will remain open for three days. The bench ended the application after noting the Union's statement. The bench stated that it could not award any additional orders for relief in a miscellaneous application and that the petitioners might file new lawsuits if they had any more grievances.
