Koiri was returning to Karimganj district after attending a three-day Bajrang Dal training session in neighbouring Hailakandi district, according to PTI.

Digital Desk: The district administration of Assam's Karimganj imposed Section 144 on Sunday in connection with the death of a Bajrang Dal activist. 

On Saturday evening, a Bajrang Dal activist, Sambhu Koiri, was killed in the Lowairpur area, 50 kilometres from Karimganj town, within the jurisdiction of the Bazaricherra Police Station. 

Koiri was returning to Karimganj district after attending a three-day Bajrang Dal training session in neighbouring Hailakandi district, according to PTI.
 
"Sharp weapons were used to attack the individual. Locals took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead "added the officer.

Residents gheraoed the Bazaricherra Police Station after the incident, demanding that the offenders be arrested. Extra forces were sent to the area to maintain control, he said.
