Digital Desk: A 64-year-old man sustained critical injuries following a serious road accident on National Highway 27 at Garoleti in Patiladaha, under Manikpur Police Station in Bongaigaon district.
The victim, identified as Dinesh Nath of Purba Kalitapara, Sarbhog, was reportedly returning home from the Patiladaha market when the incident occurred.
While attempting to cross the highway divider with his bicycle, he was struck by a Honda Venue (registration number AS15 S5383).
The force of the impact threw Dinesh Nath from the road, while his bicycle was dragged for a considerable distance by the vehicle.
Nath was immediately rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital in Manikpur for emergency care.
However, due to severity of his condition, he was later referred to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College in Barpeta for advanced treatment.
Manikpur Police reached the spot after the collision to assess the situation.
The vehicle involved in the accident was seized and taken to the police station for further investigation.
