Digital Desk: In a swift operation, Khetri police arrested a man within 12 hours for the brutal murder of a young woman on the outskirts of Dimoria.
The accused, identified as Bipul Mallik, allegedly stabbed the victim with a dagger, Sushmita Mondal, 17 times before fleeing the scene.
Mallik, who had been absconding since the discovery of the body on Thursday, was apprehended while hiding in Guwahati.
Following his arrest, the accused made a chilling confession on camera, admitting to the killing and showing no remorse for his actions.
Police sources confirmed that the victim sustained 17 stab wounds across various parts of her body.
Investigations revealed a troubled history between the two.
According to the victim's family, Mallik lured Sushmita to the location where he ultimately murdered her.
Local residents have expressed gratitude to the Khetri police for their swift action and efficiency in tracking down the suspect so quickly after the crime came to light.
Bipul Mallik remains in custody as authorities continue their interrogation to finalise the investigation.
