The air pollution levels in Delhi-NCR are the highest in North India, with the following seven polluting cities all being close to the NCR.

Digital Desk: According to a recent air quality assessment, New Delhi was the second-most polluted metropolis in North India over the last winters. Ghaziabad was declared the most polluted city in the country. The Centre for Science and Environment conducted the assessment, dubbed "All India Winter Air Quality Analysis" (CSE). The report's findings indicated that particle air pollution remained high throughout the winter of 2021-22. (from October 15 to February 28). It looked at India's north, south, east, west, central, and northeast regions. During the winter, Delhi's average air pollution level was 170 micrograms per cubic metre (g/m3), whereas Ghaziabad's was 178 micrograms per cubic metre (g/m3). The air pollution levels in Delhi-NCR are the highest in North India, with the following seven polluting cities all being close to the NCR. Faridabad, Manesar, Baghpat, Noida, Gurugram, Meerut, and Hapur have adopted Ghaziabad and Delhi. "The average peak 24-hour pollution in Delhi-NCR also increased marginally." According to a CSE analysis, despite the overall decline in the winter average, peak pollution jumped significantly from the baseline in cities in the south (24%) and central India (7%). In North India, Srinagar was the cleanest city. Palwal in Haryana, Bathinda in Punjab, and Alwar in Rajasthan have lower air pollution levels than the rest of the country. List of cities under the most polluted category: North – Ghaziabad East – Siwan, Bihar West – Ankleshwar, Gujarat Central – Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh South – Kalaburgi, Karnataka and Hyderabad, Telangana North-East – Guwahati, Assam "The problem of winter air pollution will not be limited to megacities or even a single region. It is now a widespread national issue requiring immediate and decisive national action.
