Digital Desk: The number of Japanese Encephalitis infections is increasing at an alarming rate in the state of Assam. In the last few days, more than five cases have been reported from the state's Biswanath region, including one death.
The victim had been ill for a long time and had been transferred to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital, where he died. A 12-year-old girl from one of the region's tea gardens is also among those affected. One of them has recovered, and the others are still receiving medical care.
High fever, headache, and talking gibberish are some of the symptoms of the illness, and immediate medical attention can save the patient's life. Japanese encephalitis is a vector-borne disease spread by mosquitos.

Anup Saikia, a school teacher from Kachari Gaon in Sootea, died as a result of Japanese Encephalitis. He died on Sunday at about 1.30 p.m. at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). At the time of his death, he was 57 years old. According to the information collected, Anup Saikia was admitted to a private hospital in Guwahati on July 15, and Japanese Encephalitis was found in his body. He was in the hospital for a long time. His family members eventually transferred him to GMCH. However, Saikia passed away this afternoon.
Earlier, on Monday evening, Jatin Das (63) died from Japanese Encephalitis. According to sources, Jatin Das had been suffering from Japanese Encephalitis for the past few days and was receiving treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh as well as a private nursing home in Dibrugarh. On Monday evening, Jatin Das died at his residence.
