Digital Desk: A distressing incident has rocked Karimganj as reports emerge of a young girl being subjected to a heinous crime within the confines of the postmortem room at a government hospital. A deceased girl was raped in the post-mortem room of a government hospital in Karimganj.

One such gruesome incident took place in the post-mortem room of Karimganj Civil Hospital. According to the complaint, on Friday (05/04/24), a class IX girl from Saglamoa village under Bazaricherra police station in Karimganj committed suicide.

The police and the magistrate then rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to the post-mortem room of the Civil Hospital in Karimganj at night.

The next day, the doctor came to do the post-mortem and saw signs of scars in different parts of the body, starting from the girl's secret parts. The police were informed about the incident. The police reached the spot and detained the brother of the man in charge of the post-mortem room. At the end of the interrogation, the arrested man is found to have confessed to everything in the case.

Notably, the post-mortem room of Karimganj Civil Hospital frequently brings to light incidents of mistreatment of the family of the deceased; however, this incident crossed all limits.
