Allegations of land fraud and violence surface against AIUDF leader Mahir Uddin Mandal, accused of deceiving and assaulting an impoverished family in Barpeta village

Digital Desk: An AIUDF leader stands accused of deceiving a financially struggling family by unlawfully acquiring their land in Bala Bhitha village, Barpeta. Allegedly, Mahir Uddin Mandal, a local figure, exploited the trust of Ajijul Ali and Ali Hussain, who had leased their land to him. By obtaining their signatures on a blank document, Uddin purportedly misrepresented it as a land sale agreement, which the victims denied signing willingly.

In response, Uddin claims the existence of photocopies of the agreement, although the victims refute its authenticity. Matters escalated when Ali and Ajijul, unaware of the agreement's contents, erected a boundary wall, presuming the lease had expired due to non-payment of rent. Uddin promptly demolished the wall overnight. Subsequently, he allegedly assaulted the two men and their families with sharp objects, issuing threats of violence.

This incident is not isolated, with reports suggesting Uddin has similarly targeted numerous families in the locality. Ajijul Haq, one of the victims, has filed a police report against Uddin, urging authorities to take appropriate action against the accused.
