Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia and Assam Cricket Association (ACA) General Secretary Tridib Konwar held a joint press conference regarding the ICC Women's World Cup Cricket matches scheduled in Guwahati.

The ICC Women's World Cup will commence on September 30 at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, coinciding with Ashtami Puja.

The tournament will kick off with a special 45-minute tribute to the late iconic singer Zubeen Garg, whose untimely demise has deeply impacted the Assamese community.

Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform the theme song and lead the tribute during the inaugural ceremony.

Renowned artist Angaraag Papon Mahanta will also be present at the event and pay a tribute to Zubeen Garg with a performance.

Guwahati has been selected as one of the four venues in India to host the Women's World Cup matches, marking the first time Assam has received this honour. The city will host five matches, with the first game starting at 3 pm. Stadium gates will open at 12 noon to accommodate fans.

In a gesture of respect for Zubeen Garg, ACA will distribute 5,000 free tickets to members of the Zubeen Fan Club. These tickets will be available at Nehru Stadium on the morning of September 29.

Over 15,000 tickets have already been sold, and additional tickets can be purchased at affordable prices through BookMyShow.

Fans attending the matches will have the opportunity to pay tribute to Zubeen Garg during the opening ceremony.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has announced that individuals linked to the circumstance surrounding the singer's death will be barred from entering the ACA Stadium during the matches.

This marks a historic moment for Assam, as the state hosts ICC World Cup matches for the first time.
