Harmeet Singh has been appointed full-time DGP of Assam
Digital Desk: In a significant development, Shri Harmeet Singh, IPS (RR-1992), has been promoted and posted as the Director General of Police, Assam. On 19th May, 2025, the notification was issued by the Government of Assam’s Home (A) Department, and is effective from the date he takes over charge.
Previously, Shri Harmeet Singh was appointed as the Director General of Police, Assam, and Director General of Civil Defense & Commandant General of Home Guards, Assam.
On January 27 this year, the Assam government asked Harmeet Singh, then Special DGP, to perform the day-to-day tasks of the DGP in addition to his usual work until a permanent DGP is chosen.
The appointment of Shri Harmeet Singh as the Director General of Police, Assam, marks a new chapter in the state’s policing history. With its impressive credentials and experience, he is well-equipped to tackle the challenges facing the state and lead the Assam Police to greater heights.
