Digital Desk: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang joined the magnificent celebrations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 88th birthday at Shera Monastery on July 6. CM Tamang was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues as the primary guest, and members of the Tibetan community attended in huge numbers to commemorate this special occasion. The Tibetan Settlement Office, Six Tibetan Association, and Pancha Kiduk Gangtok organised the event, which was packed with reverence and cultural festivals.

CM Tamang began the celebration by offering prayers in the Dalai Lama's picture, displaying his tremendous reverence for the spiritual leader. In addition, he laid the groundwork for a new community hall, which was unveiled last year.

The occasion also included enthralling traditional dances performed by various Kyiduk groups. The programme began with a cake-cutting ceremony carried out by the Chief Minister, which represented unity and joy.

On July 6, 2023, people all across the world gather to mark His Holiness, the Dalai Lama's 88th birthday.

Furthermore, several resources have been created for students to participate in the celebration and deepen their understanding of Buddhism.
