Gangtok: Amid the rise of Omicron cases in the country, the Sikkim government has postponed the Sikkim Global Film Festival scheduled to be held from December 10 to 14.

The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by chief minister Prem Singh Tamang along with Chief Secretary, Chairperson SFPB and other HODs.

According to an official report, the film festival was postponed, keeping in view the uncertain situation caused by the emergence of the new Covid-19 strain and the citizens' safety.

Sources quoted that the subsequent dates would be announced after the members of the Sikkim Film Promotion Board (SFPB) meet to deliberate on the further course of action.
