Digital Desk: Silchar city was struck by a powerful storm on Sunday afternoon, as strong winds and torrential rain caused widespread destruction across several areas.

Large trees were uprooted at multiple locations, completely disrupting traffic on major roads in the city.

On Circuit House Road, a huge tree collapsed onto two vehicles, causing significant damage and completely blocking the route.

A similar incident occurred on Dak Bungalow Road, where a massive banyan tree fell in front of the Christian Library, crushing a scooter owned by Mithun Paul, a resident of Sonai Road.

The destruction continued near the Silchar Divisional Forest Office and Trunk Road, where fallen trees in front of the Urban Hospital created total road blockages.

District administration and emergency services have begun clearing operations.

Efforts are currently underway to remove the debris and restore traffic flow to ensure a swift return to normalcy.
