Silchar: Sensation prevailed along the Assam-Mizoram border after a house belonging to an Assamese family was set ablaze allegedly by Mizo miscreants yesterday night.

Locals alleged incursion of unidentified miscreants into Assam territory and allegedly setting ablaze the house of a local Assamese resident at Lailapur.

Even after the patrolling team of central security personnel keeping a close watch on the border, miscreants from Mizoram infiltrated Assam territory and set fire to the house late Monday night.

As per reports, the victim identified as Azad Hussain alleged that a group of men, carrying arms entered their house and threatened them to leave the place. After moving out of the house, the miscreants set the house ablaze and further threatened the family, obstructing them from complaining to the security forces.

Assam and Mizoram have been reeling under a tense situation following the violent clash between the states on July 26th, which claimed the lives of 6 Assam Police personnel and one civilian.

Following the violent incident, government of both the states dashed off FIR's against each other, summoning officers for an investigation.

However, Assam Chief Minister has ordered Assam Police to withdraw the case against Rajya Sabha MP from Mizoram, K Vanlalvena as a "goodwill gesture".
